I am very thankful to get a great amount of music sent to me. IÕm even more thankful when the stuff thatÕs been sent to me is really good and disntinguishes itself from the other newly-arrived items I had been listening to. I recently opened an item from my in-box and found myself hitting repeat on the tracks that the email included. That email was from North CarolinaÕs Runaway Dorothy (Official / Myspace) and I was listening to their full-length debut, The Arc.
Fronted by David Parnell, Runaway Dorothy showcases a classic alt-country vibe that plain and simple, scratches me where I itch (various ointments and creams have yet to work as well a this album hasÉtoo much info?). The production is sparse and the melodies are mournful. The Arc flows with an ease that is laid-back yet completely engaging.

"It's been quite some time since a band like Runaway Dororthy has captivated my ears. From start to finish, The Arc, is filled with heartfelt tunes through the melancholy voice of David Parnell. If you were to compare him with some other notable singers, it is easy to say he is a combo of the Dylan's (Bob and Jakob). While some might scream at the comparison of Bob Dylan, David's voice is authentic and shows presence just like Bob.
The guys in Runaway Dorothy keep it simple and deliver with more heart than most musicians today. On the tracks "Takes A Lot of Love" and "Too Young", they broadcast the aforementioned statement loud and clear. These young North Carolina boys are on the right path to success and it's only a matter of time before music blogs start talking non-stop about them."
